Our Story

2011

Lake Forest Davidson (now named Storyhill Church) kicked off on August 21, 2010 with one weekly service at the Davidson K-8 school. Within four weeks, we grew to two services.

2014

Storyhill began leasing office and community spaces at the Cotton Mill. These spaces, still in use today, are a place to gather, collaborate, and grow together.

2018

We launched a third weekly service as part of an intentional push to always welcome one more person. More than 650 people worshiped with us on Christmas Eve.

2019

Four acres of land was approved to be purchased on South Main Street in Davidson, so we can build a permanent ministry outpost in the community we know and love. We committed to praying and giving to make that dream a reality—an effort we called Rooted.

2020

In the wake of COVID-19, Storyhill began streaming weekly services online from the Cotton Mill and then in the McDaniel Field, one and two of six locations where services were held between March 2020 and January 2021. That made us even more excited to close on our land! With the blessing of Lake Forest Church, we began the journey to becoming an autonomous local church.

2021

The Lake Norman YMCA became the home for our weekly services until we build and move into our permanent space on South Main Street. Now firmly rooted in the Davidson community, we began praying and investing in the Established In Love campaign. By God’s grace, we surpassed our goal! Those commitments will allow us to build a ministry outpost that will serve the community for years to come. And on December 12, we officially became Storyhill Church!

Looking Ahead

Davidson and the surrounding area are growing fast. Behind that growth, there are people—people with stories. We plan to continue to be rooted and established in love so we can help more and more people see how their unique story is wrapped up in the One Big Story—the story of how God loves us and came to rescue us.
